We left Ghoki in New Delhi airport (it was not much of an emotional goodbye……..as he spent the entire road trip from Jaipur to New Delhi insisting we write him a review and telling us to come to his ashram in the north to lose weight…………my tip to Ghoki was NOT writing a review).

We arrived in Colombo late in the evening and after some fumbling around in the airport got our heads around the money and grabbed a taxi to the Hotel. It was after midnight so we just went to bed ready to explore the a bit more in the morning, and explore we did not! We worked out how to get to Mirissa via train and tried our hand at buying them ourselves (there was a separate tourist ticket booth but was sure there was a heavy tourist tax for the luxury of speaking broken English).

We waited in the train station and Sarah got abit trigger happy and ran onto the first train to pull up………it was not our train and this left us with a sprint through another train station while the locals stalled the train for us! Now a 3 hr train for the cost of 1 euro a ticket we were pleasantly surprised by the quality but we stood the whole time and the doors were wide open!
