Venturing to the bus terminal we arrived into a bit of a sink of swim situation, the terminal was massive! With 20 minutes to find our bus and apparently very little English spoken we need to flex our Spanish (for which my 20 minutes of Duolingo was no use ~ unless the situation required to recite "Hombre, Mujler, Nino & Nina"!) but thankfully Sarah's Spanish started flooding back and we got there in time! The journey to Puebla was bout 2 hours and was nicer than even an Air Lingus Flight!

Obviously the town had heard of our arrival and the streets were a bustle with everyone getting ready for a party in our honor! Both taken a back at the welcome we were receiving our Uber driver told us that coincidently it was also Mexican Independence Day (Obviously the thousands of people were there for us but was nice they could also celebrate their countries independence at the same time!). Checking into Posada Vee Yuu - easily one of the nicest hostels with and wait for it.......... HOT SHOWERS - we slept off the sore neck from the bus before venturing out for the festivities. Going through security checks to the Zocalo (Main Square) I was stripped of my belt by armed Police and made to tie it to a railing to retrieve later........ (I have no idea why belts were an issue) but after 30 minutes of flashing the good people of Puebla my boxers we needed to go back for it and as it turns out......it was only this one gate and everyone else is let keep their belts (such a weird flex of power or maybe he was going to be selling the unclaimed belts to which I applaud the entrepreneurship!). A quick bite and drink in the Cantina we made our way back to the square for a very family friendly event full of music, lights, cheering and Fireworks! The pride of the people as they scream Viva with the towns Mayor as he rings the bell in their cry for independence.

One day is not enough to take in Puebla but it was all we had with a bus booked for Oaxaca in the morning (Which is where I am writing these posts from, its a 5 and a half hour bus and we downgraded company so currently just abit more comfortable than on a RyanAir flight!).
